Secret Santa where your person actually likes the gift

Everyone shares a wishlist. Whoever drew their name claims a gift in secret. Nobody else sees who bought what.

Free to use. No sign-up needed to claim.

The problem with guessing

Secret Santa is a fun idea with one weak spot: you get a name, and then you have no idea what that person wants. The result is a drawer full of candles and a lot of polite smiling.

A wishlist fixes it. Your Santa opens your list, picks something you chose yourself, and claims it. You still get a surprise, because you never find out who bought which gift.

How to run it, step by step

  1. 1. Draw names. Use a hat or a spreadsheet, or try our free Secret Santa generator, which draws in your browser and sends each person a private link.
  2. 2. Everyone makes a list. Five to ten ideas is plenty. Add the budget to the description so nobody has to ask.
  3. 3. Share the links. Drop them in the group chat. Open your giftee's link, not everyone's.
  4. 4. Claim your gift. It shows as claimed for everyone else, and your giftee only sees that it's taken.

Tips for a better Secret Santa list

  • โ€ขKeep most items under the budget, and add one or two nice-to-haves.

  • โ€ขAdd a few small items, such as treats or stationery, for last-minute shoppers.

Frequently asked questions

Does plzly draw the Secret Santa names?
Yes, with the free Secret Santa generator. It draws in your browser and gives each person a private link, and nothing is stored. You can also use any draw method you like, then let wishlists handle the gift ideas.
Do my coworkers or friends need an account?
No. Anyone with the link can open a list and claim an item without signing up. Only the person creating a list needs a free plzly account.
Will my Secret Santa see that I looked at my own list?
You can open your own list any time. You will see which items are claimed, but never who claimed them.
How do I keep gifts inside the budget?
Put the budget in the list description, then add items that fit it. Mixing a few small items with a couple of slightly bigger ones gives your Santa choices without going over.

Is plzly free?
Yes. plzly is free to use, and so is the browser extension for Chrome and Firefox.
